Reddit is down, but only if you’re logged in: ‘all of our servers are busy right now’ (Update: it’s back)
Reddit’s most recent outage occurred last month, but it didn’t last very long. We have contacted Reddit for more information and will update you as we learn more.
Update at 9:15 p.m. Pacific: Reddit has acknowledged the problem directly on its site. “Reddit is in ’emergency read-only mode’ right now. :( You won’t be able to log in. We’re sorry and are working frantically to fix the problem.”
Update at 11:09 p.m. Pacific: Reddit says the site is working again. It tweeted:

Complaints about the outage at the online discussion board have been ongoing for a few hours now, according to searches on Facebook and Twitter. Sites like Down Detector confirm the problem, though, naturally, similar services that just ping the website you’re checking will report that Reddit is doing just fine.
And it is. You just can’t access the site as a logged-in user. If you do, you’ll get the following generic message:
all of our servers are busy right now
please try again in a minute
(error code: 503)
If you have a solution that allows you to keep browsing Reddit while logged-in, do let us know. But chances are, the outage will be resolved soon enough.

Is Reddit down for you right now? There’s a simple solution: Just log out. Alternatively, fire up Reddit in incognito or private mode. Voilà.Investigating: Our cassandra databases are under extreme load at the moment. We're working on the situation. https://t.co/PQi4eGcwUm— reddit status (@redditstatus) December 15, 2015
