Accesing Your Subconscious Mind - First Steps To Mastery
Accessing and utilizing our unconscious mind is a fascinating experience. Consider your unconscious mind to be the hard drive of the super computer your mind is, and your conscious mind as the focus of attention you apply on any particular aspect of your experience using that supercomputer that your mind is.
Now, your mind is not only the brain that resides in your skull, just as your computer is not only the hardware inside your computer. To experience the information in your hard drive you need a screen, earphones, etc. In the case of your mind the screen is what you see, and the earphones, the sounds that you percieve. They appear to be outside of you, but in fact, they are being processed in your brain and this fine tuned technology then simulates or projects outwards this immersive experience you call Life.
Life is not that different from a dream. While we dream we respond automatically to everything that happens, and usually we are convinced that the current dream experience is real life, this is because our unconscious mind doesn't distinguish reality from illusion. This is how a movie can frighten you.
However when we activate a certain area on our frontal lobes, we can analyze our experience by attaching meaning to it, and we can also activate a part of our minds that gives us conscious access to our motor system, etc. This is how we can experience lucid dreams, or this also explains how people can do things that we call "mind over matter", or how we suddenly tell ourselves "realx, it's just a movie", when we are terrified about what's going on in a 20 inch screen.
With our conscious awareness we can focus our attention on the incoming data and use our reason to help guide our unconscious to our desired outcome.
Imagine you are watching a scary movie, your unconscious doesn't have the ability to differentiate real from unreal, it only processes images, sounds, pace, rhythm, and generates an emotion.
It also goes the other way, and can also reinforce itself. As in, you feel an emotion and you produce images in accordance to the original emotion.
As I said before, your conscious mind is that part of you that says "Ok, this is just a movie, relax". It rationalizes things, so by using that analytical mind you can change the meaning of things so that you empower your unconscious towards the desired outcome.
Clear examples of this are: Jumping into a cold pool, and using your analytical mind to conclude that if you stay in the cold water your body will adapt and the feeling of cold will subside. You are having a nightmare, you are frightened, suddenly you realize it's a dream and you turn around, face the demons that chase you, and they offer you some cookies. (Or they pull your guts out with their bare hands as you watch the interesting event unfold before you, without feeling any pain. Happend to me once)
Another example: Your dog died. You feel really sad about it, an unbearable feeling of loss. Throughout the day you distract yourself with something, and from one moment to the other you forget about the fact that your dog is dead and you feel joyful for a moment, then, the image of your dog comes to mind, something reminds you of it, and you feel terrible again.
In order to sustain an emotion, you need images, sounds, etc. It goes the other way round too, an emotion brings up images, memories, etc.
If you want to release a certain image/thought, or emotion from your subconscious/unconscious mind, you just need to weaken that thought or emotion, by not reinforcing it.

How to do this?
Use your conscious focus, and the power of your analytical mind. You have to change the meaning of that thought or emotion, tag it as something that can be changed, curb the suffering and let the unconscious come up with solutions.
Invent rules for your unconscious mind. Your unconscious is like a super-processor that computes information at a level in which your conscious mind is unaware of. You can use this to your advantage, you can connect ideas such as "each time I remember my dog died will make my mind know that this is a growing experience that will empower me and make me wiser" or "dog's die and people overcome it" so each time your mind brings up the "dead dog" thought, you automatically transform it into an empowering thought that, changes your emotion which changes your mental images, and frees you from suffering. It all boils down to feelings, images, sounds, etc. Work with those, think in terms of "senses", that's all experience is made of.
The less you practice a thought, the weaker it becomes. If you want to edit a thought, you have to find a way to avoid it, because by curbing a thought you weaken it. Why? And - Answer: A thought is generated when a certain neural pathway gets activated. A neural pathway get's reinforced each time it is fired, through a process called myelination. If you cut a thought short, and increase the lapse of time between each time you experience it more and more, that particular neural pathway isn't triggered which eventually weakens the thought to the point of "atrophy". Once the thought is "atrophied", it won't resurface. For it to resurface you should reinforce it again and again until it becomes active again. With this concept you can get rid of unwanted thoughts and you can also reinforce positive thoughts, such as a feeling/thought of balance, satisfaction and fulfillment.
Reinforcing a thought of balance, fulfillment and satisfaction doesn't mean you need anything in particular to achieve that desired fulfillment. You can create a thought of fulfillment that triggers inside of you a feeling of peace and wellbeing that is independent of any external event. As I write this I've been 18hs fasting, which is part of my daily intermittent fasting diet, and I feel perfectly fine, theres food in the kitchen which I will eat when I finish typing this (it's 2pm I dont eat since 8pm last night), and I feel perfectly fine, I feel active, sharp and focused. Fasting has benefits, your sympathetic system gets activated which sharpens your senses and focuses your mind. It's a sort of "hunting mode" you get into.
I think this is sufficient information for you guys to digest until my next post. If you want to get in touch with me, don't doubt to PM me, and we can exchange emails.
